ABINGDON ARCHAEOLOGICAL GEOPHYSICS

BEEDON near Newbury Berkshire

Here we carried out a small survey to help the local archaeologists see if the site had anything other than Iron Age pits which were being excavated.

We found more pits and a possible hut gully and other features which could be further investigated.

30m x 30m grids. Lines 1m apart. 8 readings per metre. Chalk bedrock with heavily ploughed thin soil. Pits had 8-10nT readings above background but gully only 2nT difference from background levels.
