NAVARRE In 2007 we were asked to survey a small hillfort near Lesaka in the Navarre region of Spain. The hill and obstructions meant that it was best to use a 20m grid. The results added little to the understanding of the site as they found the earthworks which were visible anyway and a few other features. If anything the area outside the enclosure looked more promising than the interior. The main aspect of interest from a geophysical point of view was the very high resistivity of the soil in this area. It was a shallow soil over granite bedrock. Readings of 2000ohms were not unusual. Fortunately our equipment has a high resistance setting which was able to cope with this.
